A.J. Foyt Tribute by CW Mundy, Acrylic on Canvas, 30×40

The Indianapolis 500, billed as The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, is one of the oldest, and considered one of most significant motorsports events in the world.

A. J. Foyt, born January 16, 1935, in Houston, Texas is a retired American automobile racing driver.  A.J. won the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 4 times, in 1961, 1964, 1967, 1977. He was the first driver to do so.

This painting, done by C. W. in the early 1990’s is a tribute to A.J.’s Indianapolis 500 victories. See more of C.W.’s sports illustration career (1970- 1990) at the National Art Museum of Sport in Indianapolis.
